We loved doing this event as it was a new concept for us and we also have a wonderful relationship with this client. That makes working together even more satisfying for both parties.
So Fiona (super creative extraordinaire for Mask Events), Monopoly, that’s an interesting theme for an awards dinner. How many events have you used the Monopoly theme in before?
None, this is the very first Monopoly event we have created. We love coming up with new and fun ideas for our clients. We had a range of styling items that would work with this event such as our super sized dice, and our street lamps but we love to custom build new props for individual events. For this event we had each centrepiece custom designed to our specifications.
How did you come up with such a unique theme?
Our themes are always a collaborative effort between Mask Events and the client. We created a mood board for this idea and the client fell in love with the concept.
What do you think worked well with this event?
The fact that we have the client’s explicit trust. Once we had the concept nailed down there wasn’t the need to have a constant back and forth discussion over all the little details. We simply met with them a few times during the lead up to the night just to give them an update and make sure we were all on the same page.
What learnings do you think other corporate clients could take away from this event?
Trust your stylist! We do this every day and know what works… With the Monopoly theme, because it was such a new and exciting theme we didn’t have to go too crazy with centrepieces on each table. Instead we chose to make them quite simple compared to other events, but with this theme they were so effective. Sometimes stand out themed events, such as this one, can still create quite the wow factor even when you’re on a budget.
We are already planning their event for next year based on this wonderful feedback –
‘Just wanted to say a massive thanks to you and your team! The theming was a great success as always and I look forward to seeing what you create next year.’
