The scene was set for a magical, mystical night under a canopy of ivy and wisteria. Welcome to our Secret Garden, a gala dinner for over 300 guests set at The Events Centre, Caloundra. This entire event was created in under three hours with an army of the most fantastic staff in the business.
Outside the Garden, Under the twinkling night sky
The guests were ushered into our pre-dinner drinks area, where we created an entire ceiling of twinkling fairy lights reminiscent of the night sky blazing full with diamond eyed stars. Awash with a golden glow, we placed mosaic tea light holders on each dry bar to play with the candle light inside, bouncing off the wreaths of fresh ivy surrounding them. Dotted with fresh flowers to compliment the big band’s up lighting, the guests were given a small taste of the evening to come.
Through the tunnel to where the garden awaits
As the champagne and canapés drew to a close the guests were directed to enter the evening’s dinner through a specially created entrance. Having only a small teaser as to what the evening was to bring, the guests were delighted with a quote sign from the novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett, The Secret Garden. And finally all was to be revealed. Ivy walls as far as the eye could see in either direction, adorned with fresh flowers and fairy lights, led the way through an ivy tunnel. Emerging from the tunnel guests gasps as they entered our Secret Garden Gala Dinner.

Stepping lightly into the ballroom through a cloud of swirling smoke, all of the senses were vivified. The sight of the most realistic, majestic, hand crafted tree, supporting vintage chandeliers, spanning the entire length of the stage, the harp string notes floating through the air, the aroma of hundreds of fresh flowers, the feel of the creeping ivy covering the ballroom wall and the taste of the fresh produce delivered promptly to each sitting.
Everywhere our guests turned there was another styling element to bring the Secret Garden to life. From the ivy and wisteria chandeliers suspended from the roof draping, to the moss coloured rocks spilling over the timber bases in the centre of every table, to the clusters of stone pillars presenting birdcages alight with candles and flowers. Despite the mammoth size, of the largest venue on the Sunshine Coast, every nook and cranny was completely filled to invite the feeling of the sprawling estate upon which this theme was based.
