The latest retail experience on the Sunshine Coast, Stockland Birtinya Shopping Centre is a true delight. Located centrally on Kawana Way at Birtinya, this $87 million Stockland development is consciously different. The centre blurs the lines between built form and nature, lifestyle and retail, work and play, land and sea. In short – this is the quintessential Sunshine Coast shopping experience we’ve been waiting for.
Mask Events were stoked to be involved with the Grand Opening of this amazing new Sunshine Coast shopping centre. In keeping with the theme the Centre is built around, Mask created, organised and managed a three day free food and wellness festival to celebrate the official Centre opening. This not only involved the Mask Event crew working from midnight to bump in the moment the construction crew finished the centre, but also an additional crew to be on site and manage every element for the whole three days.
We invited the incredible Lee Holmes from Supercharged Food to entertain shoppers with live presentations on her new book “Supercharge Your Gut “. Lee delivered a healthy recipe demonstration in the Fresh zone and gave away 200 books with personalised signatures!
The Fresh and Flavour zones we created were a big hit throughout the festival. Each space was created and styled to house presentations by not only Lee, but also three other nutritionists who conducted live presentations to educate and inspire the health and wellness foodies in the crowd. The zones also ran regular wine and beer masterclasses, with guest speaker Jane Ferrari from Yalumba Wines engaging us with insights into vineyard life.
These weren’t the only activation areas that Mask Events designed and styled. Throughout the shopping centre we had a media launch zone and a swing selfie zone for media and guests alike to share their experience with the world. The Kids’ zone allowed parents to drop their kids off for free eco-craft activities while they explore the new centre and attended one of the wellness sessions or nutritionist talks.

The official grand opening of Stockland Birtinya Shopping Centre was a very special occasion. VIP guests enjoyed a healthy catered breakfast as they were informed by key speakers and entertained by the Local Gubbi Gubbi Dance Troupe, who performed Welcome to Country.
We organised a ribbon cutting with a difference. We had a fresh, greenery garland ribbon made to fit with the Centre theming. As the ‘ribbon’ was cut, two cannons fired fresh florals and native leaves, showering the space in the scents and sights of native Australia.
Stockland Birtinya Shopping Centre is a must- see on the Sunshine Coast, and a wonderful addition for residents to now call their local.
