Recreate an art deco gala ball in a Colorbond shed at Aussie World? Of course we can! In fact, we did, and surpassed all expectations in the process.
It’s all about the children
The annual Mayoral Ball is one of the most significant resources of fundraising for SunnyKids. Just last year (2017) the Mayoral Ball raised $98,000 for this amazing charity. SunnyKids, and the Mayoral Ball gala event, significantly contribute to changing the lives of hundreds of children in crisis across the Sunshine Coast.

Mayor Mark Jamieson, Patron of SunnyKids, again entrusted this gala event to Mask in 2018. With the support of the ongoing committee, volunteers, suppliers and Foundation Partners, we created a spectacular evening of unparalleled food, wine, entertainment, fundraising and fun. James Millar, a multiple award-winning Australian theatre and film actor, was our MC and main attraction for the night.

How to turn a tin shed into the Ritz Ballroom
We introduced the guests to the Ritz theme upon arrival, with a grand entrance of red carpet, a black jaguar on entry and two large palms.
The dining tables in the main ballroom were dressed in floor-length black tablecloths, with dramatic gold tiffany chairs and tall palm arrangements with layered candles. The ballroom sparkled in true Ritz style with all the candles lighting the space.
Set to either side of the stage at the front of the ballroom, were screens that we had custom designed and made. The screens projected art deco patterns, romantic films, and swing dancers to bring the theme to life. This complemented the 8 piece swing band perfectly.

A favourite among guests was the “Premium Lounge Bar “. We styled this area with chesterfield lounge settings, moody florals, palms, and candles. A cosy, decadent area to rest the feet and have a quiet conversation during the first half of the evening. It then became THE place to be for the after-party dance fest, with our DJ packing out the dance floor!
