Imagine attending a 40th birthday party on the Sunshine Coast and realising you’re at a surprise Elton John concert…
Well, this was the experience one of our very generous clients gave his 40th birthday guests, with a little help from Mask Events, and a superb Elton John impersonator. 😉
In fact, the surprise went off so well that as our Sir Elton belted our Saturday Night’s Alright for his opening number (accompanied by the explosion of pyro fountains), the crowd were all so busy taking photos that they forgot to dance and sing along for a moment!
Of course, we love to hint at surprises to come in any event with on point décor. For this 40th, we set up a gold fringed selfie booth, complete with feather boas and over sized glasses.
Custom fringing was also used in the marquee, where cocktails and delicacies were served all night from the grazing station and bar.
Guests knew to expect something special when they arrived at the red-carpet entrance, complete with bollards and colourful flags. They enjoyed canapes on arrival, until the music from the band in the marquee drew them inside for the excitement to come.
These steamy Sunshine Coast summer nights can be uncomfortable for some party-goers, so we ensured that the marquee was air conditioned for everyone’s enjoyment. Good thing we did, as there was some exceptional dancing going on in that marquee!
After Elton left the stage, the crowd were really warmed up. The dancefloor was pumping as the second band had everyone dancing the night away under the laser lights and disco ball.
The guests kept their energy up with all the delicious food that was served. As well as the canapes and grazing station, more substantial treats were brought around, walk and fork style. Plus the delicious dessert that was offered around after the cake-cutting and speeches.
Now, it wouldn’t be a Sunshine Coast summer party without a bit of a weather event, and Mask are always prepared for all weather.
When the torrential downpour started, we were on hand to protect the AV equipment, place sand bags and sweep out any water that was threatening to sneak into the party.
It was only fitting though, as our Elton John finished his set with a high energy rendition of Crocodile Rock, and the birthday boy kicked up his heels with his very impressed family and friends.
This was such a fun event to be involved in, we’re so happy we could help pull off the big birthday surprise (for the guests)!
