Venue 114 in Kawana came alive for the Youi Start of Year Roaring 20s Gala. Mask Events loved working with Youi on such a special event. The night of the year where employees are recognised for all their exceptional efforts (that’s our kind of company culture!).
We went all out with styling for this event, as it was decided to make it “the biggest, best party ever” (which for event planners is the biggest, best event brief ever).
The event theme was an eccentric and exciting 1920s theme, showcasing the creativity of our team to give the Youi team a night to remember.
Mask set up an extravagant 1920’s nightclub atmosphere, with an opulent 3×3 chandelier and vintage furnishings.
Specifically styled florals graced art deco style stands and statues, with candles and up-lighting adding to the ambience. We used Tungsten lighting throughout the venue for that extra ‘20s glow-up.
Ash from Hot91FM was the event MC, running the awards ceremony with the Youi CEO. We secured a local dance school to rock that stage with a mind-blowing dance presentation to kick off the awards.
Guests were treated to a range of exciting entertainment, from flapper girls to aerial artists, keeping the guests in awe between the awards formalities.

Positioning the aerial artists in the venue was an interesting event planner challenge for us. They needed to make it through the crowd, be visually pleasing to the guests and also not interrupt all of the other entertainment we had lined up. We think the aerial performers and events team did an amazing job. They created a really stunning display for our guests.
The Gatsby themed bars were popular with the Youi team. In addition to Venue 114’s bar, Mask Events created another bar towards the back of the venue. It was created so guests could easily access a cocktail without having to push through the big crowd. Of course, the champagne stilt-walkers meandering through the venue also helped on this front.
We sourced an incredible musical line-up for the evening. With a jazz band, DJ, saxophone player, and singer bringing the ‘20s nightclub vibe.
An event like this is where Mask really shine! On the evening, we managed all logistics and communication across a full staff of 80. We create a seamless experience for the guests, ensuring our clients get to enjoy the wow factor of their event. Meanwhile, also being able to move smoothly through the venue, with easy access to everything they need for a fun-filled night.
